        Reflection as a learning activity

        Did you know that the greatest predictor of success is a supervisor's level of self-awareness, that is their emotional intelligence? Focused reflection is a key component to building self-awareness.

        That is why we ask you to use a learning journal throughout this course.

        Download and save the journal somewhere you can access each time you work on the course. You may choose to print it; however if you do so, you won't be able to access the links to tools and extra resources.


        If you will be attending the classroom portion of the Supervisor Development Program, we ask you to bring your completed printed journal to class for use on the first day.

        This content is optional for managers who are not part of the core public administration

        The Office of the Chief Human Resources Officer, in collaboration with the School, developed the online training, Performance Management for the Government of Canada (G140). The training is mandatory for managers who are part of the core public administration. If your organization is not part of the core public administration, you are still welcome to take it since it provides a good overview and best practices on how to manage the performance of your employees.

        Before getting started, please read the following information carefully:

        • You are strongly encouraged to review all the course content before attempting to complete the quiz.
        • The questions are designed to test the knowledge you acquired.
        • The quiz must be completed in one try. If you log out, you will need to restart from the beginning.
        • You need to obtain a minimum passing mark of 70% in any of the 3 attempts you are allowed.
        • If your first attempt is not successful, we suggest that you go back and review the content before trying again.
        • Questions are drawn randomly from a pool, which will make this quiz different every attempt.
        • Once you exceed 3 attempts, there is a 24-hour waiting period before you can attempt the quiz again. We recommend that you take that time to review the material before your next attempt.
